The PRS Custom 24-08 Wood Library in Sprayer's Choice Gunmetal Grey Sparkle sits at an intersection PRS rarely offers. Wood Library gives select dealers access to PRS's private wood vault, building combinations that never touch the standard Core catalog. Sprayer's Choice goes further. A PRS master finish artist works with no template and no formula, spraying a finish that will not be repeated. The gunmetal sparkle it produced has depth and movement under light that a catalog finish cannot replicate.
The wood tells the rest of the story. The curly maple neck is incredibly figured, left in a satin finish so the feel is fast. Ziricote was used on both the fretboard and the matching headstock veneer, with its dark, streaked grain running the full length of the neck. Mother-of-pearl Old School Outline Birds sit into the ziricote, a subtler, more vintage-leaning take on PRS's signature inlay. Smoked black hardware ties the build together without competing with the sparkle finish for attention.
Underneath, this is still a full 24-08. DMO treble and bass pickups give it a wider, more harmonically complex voice than a standard PRS humbucker pairing, and the dual mini-toggle EQ switches open more tonal territory. The Gen III tremolo stays smooth and stable. Wood Library sourcing and a one-of-one finish rarely converge on one instrument.
