Some companies build signature models for artists. PRS built one for the guy whose name is on the headstock. Paul's Guitar is exactly what Paul Reed Smith would choose if he could only walk on stage with one instrument. Every detail, from the pickups to the hardware to the neck carve, reflects decades of chasing better tone rather than the latest trend. Turns out the founder has a pretty good idea of what makes a great guitar.
This one, though, is something else. The first thing that stops you in your tracks is the one piece quilt maple 10 Top. Not bookmatched. One piece. Finding a quilted maple cap this wide and this heavily figured is exceptionally uncommon, even by Private Stock standards. It has an incredible three dimensional depth that seems to shift every time the light hits it.
Then your eyes wander north. Instead of the standard Honduran rosewood appointments, this guitar wears a breathtaking Brazilian rosewood fretboard and matching headstock veneer. Brazilian rosewood has long been regarded as one of the most desirable tonewoods in the world, and finding it on a modern PRS is becoming increasingly rare. The rich colour, grain, and natural beauty make it every bit as captivating as the quilted maple top.
Underneath all of that rare wood is the guitar Paul designed for himself. The TCI pickups deliver everything from clear, piano-like single coils to thick, articulate humbucker tones thanks to the dual mini toggles, giving you an incredible range without ever feeling complicated. It isn't trying to do everything. It just does everything exceptionally well.
